What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?

People often ask me if hypnotherapy will put them into a special kind of state or 'trance'. The truth is, we naturally move in and out of a number of different trance states everyday.

For example, have you ever driven a familiar journey, realising on arrival that you don't remember the drive? If so, you've been in a kind of autopilot trance. If you see a spider, perhaps your breathing quickens or your palms sweat? We could call this your ‘spider trance'.

 

Through Hypnotherapy we can access these different 'trance states' and utilise them to free you from unhelpful patterns and behaviours. The ‘Cognitive’ bit simply means that I don’t use scripts or rigid structures. Everything is guided by you and your own unique way of experiencing the world.

What if I can’t meditate?

Meditation is often misunderstood. It is not something you can fail or be ‘bad’ at. It’s more like an experiment, with no right or wrong result. We just explore the present moment and use whatever we find as valuable feedback.

How do the sessions work?

My sessions are an hour long and I am currently working on Zoom. I will send you the zoom link in advance of the session. You’ll need a quiet comfortable space, preferably with no interruptions and a strong wifi signal if possible.
